Business Class Contest 2010

On February the 20th our business English class (year 11) and our teacher Mrs Schulze met at Mönchengladbach station to go to Coesfeld by train, where our business class contest took place.
The contest was about businesses ideas, which had been prepared by every class which participated. So for example our class had four groups who presented their ideas. One group presented the party organisation PartO, another group created a unique sport shoe called REC which produces energy, the third group invented a wardrobe called SAW which is able to show what its owner should wear and the last group presented an online library with a delivery service called BooKing, where people can order books via the internet.
When we arrived at the Oswald-von-Nell-Breuning-Berufskolleg in Coesfeld (where the competition took place) every group got a stall to prepare in order to show their business to the other groups. When the stalls were ready, the jury was introduced and a few rules were explained. After that the groups had two hours to go around and look at the different stalls (like on a trade fair). There were thirteen stalls presented by start-up companies like Outlandish, who wanted to build a big restaurant in Dubai with international food, another group prepared a transformation system and there was also the idea of a drink observer, who protects the drinker from k.o. drops in the drink.
Within these two hours the jury went around to look at all stalls and to talk to the young entrepreneurs to find a winner for the best business idea.
After this period of time, so called "Marktphase", the pupils were allowed to have a break and after this, all the participants got together in a big room to watch the power point presentations, which were prepared by four groups. These four groups were selected from the other groups of one class so that every group represented its school.
When all the four groups had finished (there were the groups Outlandish, drink.o.bserver, Styleasy, and the online library BooKing) the jury got together to find a winner. We were all very curious to know who had won. And this was the result: Outlandish ranked third, Booking second and the winner was drink.o.bserver. But another group of our school won a price. It was REC, the inventors of the energy- producing sport shoe who got a price for the best stall.
